broken image

When you are in late teens, then your dream to learn driving will be quite intense. Actually, this is the right time to learn driving, and the moment you turn an adult, you must start applying for a driving license.

LTRENT is one very popular driving school that offers driving lessons Melbourne to those aspirants who are planning to apply for their driving license.

If you want to teach your teen or a friend to learn how to drive a car, then here are a few tips for you so that the learning process of your student will be a little more effective and also less stressful.

Be compassionate

While teaching someone driving, the first thing is that you must be compassionate for your student who may be very anxious to learn driving. Particularly, if you are dealing with teens then they are neither a child nor an adult and hence you have to handle them very carefully.

You are expected to display more patience as teens are usually very restless so don’t let them get distracted. Few people are slow learners and therefore your patient approach will be very much needed.

Quite often teenagers may take a little risk and try to drive dangerously too. So, you should be firm and yet polite to warn them so that they can correct their habit.

Make a lesson plan

To have smooth sessions with teenaged people it is always better to make a proper plan. Before you start teaching you must plan in the following way:

  1. Start with getting familiarized with the car and its various controls. Your students must understand the function and purpose of all controls and indicators.
  2. Next, tell them how they will be driving in commercial areas, showing left/right indications, changing lanes and parking, etc.
  3. Then introduce them to drive at 50 mph speed, where many lane changes are needed.
  4. Then offer them exposure to highway driving.
  5. Then tell them how to drive in hilly areas and during bad weather.

Have enough discussion

Encourage your student to ask as many questions that come into their mind while they are driving and also afterward. Often few people may feel embarrassed to ask a silly question and hence you should not ridicule them if their question is too basic.

Even if they commit any mistake then don’t scold them. In fact, by committing a certain mistake they can learn a lot. You must then try to correct their mistake and they will understand it better.

Give them a little break

Try to monitor the reaction of your students throughout the lesson. Check how tightly they are holding the steering wheel, whether feeling nervous or breathing heavily or they are too stiff. Often, they may need some break too.

Ask them how they are feeling so that they get relieved from their tension. You may stop the car for some time and ask them to take rest so that they can introspect what all they have learned so far.
